The Memory Project

The Memory Project is a nationwide bilingual project that connects Veterans and Canadian forces personnel with the opportunity to share their stories with Canadians in classrooms and community forums. In addition to the Speakers’ bureau, The Memory Project has created a record of Canada’s participation in various global conflicts, including the Second World War and Korean War, through oral interviews, digitized artefacts, and memorabilia.

The Memory Project is an initiative of Historica Canada and is made possible with generous funding from Canadian Heritage and Veterans Affairs Canada.

The Memory Project Speakers Bureau is available year round for both school and community groups, and for audiences of all ages. Please click here too book a speaker if you would like to have one of our volunteer speakers visit your class or group. We recommend that you submit your form at least two weeks in advance to ensure that we have time to find a suitable speaker.

Special Note for Remembrance Day: During the fall, we receive hundreds of requests. It is never too early to submit your Remembrance Day request; book before October 1st to welcome a Memory Project speaker for the Remembrance Day season. Visit requests submitted after October 1st will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If your dates are flexible, we will be more likely to arrange for a speaker to visit your group.
